RynCam Privacy Policy

RynCam (“the app”) is a camera app for iOS and Android made by devryner (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and how you can control it.

Summary

• There is no sign-up and no account. We don’t ask for your name, email, or phone number.
• The photos you take and the filters you make stay on your device. They are never sent to us.
• Crash reports and usage stats are shown turned on on the last page of the intro. You can turn them off before you start, or at any time in Settings.
• The app shows no ads, doesn’t collect advertising identifiers (IDFA or Advertising ID), and doesn’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
• We don’t sell or share your personal information.

1. Information we handle and why

1.1 Camera and photos

• Camera — to show the viewfinder and take photos. The live image is filtered on your device and never leaves it.
• Photo library — to save the photos you take to your device’s photo library (gallery), and to show, share, and delete them in the in-app album.
• Photos you pick in the Workshop — used only on your device, to read their color and contrast or to place them on the workbench.
• Sharing — when you tap Share, the original file is copied to a temporary folder on your device and handed to the system share sheet. You decide where it goes.

We cannot receive or see your photos. The app doesn’t request location permission, so it doesn’t write location data into your photos. Photo files do include shooting information (EXIF) such as focal length, ISO, and shutter speed.

1.2 Motion sensors

The app reads your device’s tilt to show the level. This is not stored or sent anywhere.

1.3 Information stored on your device

The app keeps its settings, the filters you make, whether you’ve finished the intro, whether you’ve agreed to send stats, and (on Android) the last confirmed purchase status in its own storage on your device. None of this is sent to us, and it is removed when you delete the app. On iOS it may be included in device backups (such as iCloud Backup); on Android, app data backup is turned off.

1.4 Purchases

RynCam Pro is a one-time purchase through the App Store or Google Play. Payment and payment details are handled by Apple or Google; we never receive them. The app only checks with the store whether your purchase is valid. The store’s own privacy policy applies to the payment.

1.5 Downloading app text (translations)

The app downloads the latest translations of its on-screen text from a server we operate (l10n.devryner.com). These requests contain no device identifier, account, photos, or usage history. Like any internet request, however, the server receives your device’s IP address, the time and address of the request, and standard information your device sends (such as the User-Agent). This may be kept briefly in server logs to provide the service and for security and troubleshooting.

1.6 Crash reports and usage stats (optional)

While “Send anonymous stats” is on, the following is sent to Google’s Firebase Crashlytics and Google Analytics for Firebase. This setting is shown turned on on the last page of the intro; you can turn it off before you start, or later in Settings. Nothing is sent before you finish the intro.

• Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) — when the app crashes or hits an error: the stack trace, app version, device model, OS version, memory and storage state, time of the event, and a random identifier for this installation
• Usage stats (Google Analytics for Firebase) — automatically collected events such as first open, sessions, app updates, and in-app purchases; app version, device model, OS version, language, approximate country or region, and a random per-installation identifier (app instance ID)

Your name, email, and photos are not included. We do not collect advertising identifiers — the SDKs are configured not to read the iOS Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), the Android Advertising ID, or the Android ID (SSAID), and this stays the case even if you agree to send stats. The random identifiers don’t tell us who you are, but they let reports from the same installation be grouped together. Country or region is estimated from your IP address; Google states that Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses.

Why: to find the causes of errors, make the app more stable, and understand in general how features are used.

Turning it off: turn it off in the app’s Settings and collection stops immediately; crash reports not yet sent are also deleted from your device. Every feature of the app keeps working with it off.

2. How long we keep information

3. Service providers and international transfers

We don’t sell your personal information or give it to third parties. If you agree to the optional stats in 1.6, we use the following service provider, and your information is transferred outside your country in the process.

4. Your rights

• You can withdraw your consent to sending stats at any time in the app’s Settings.
• Deleting the app removes all information stored on your device.
• You can ask us to access, correct, delete, or stop processing your personal information by contacting us below. Because we hold nothing that identifies you, such as a name or email, we may be unable to find data belonging to a specific person.

If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland: we rely on your consent for crash reports and usage stats (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), and on our legitimate interest in running the service securely for server logs (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing done before withdrawal. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Transfers to Google LLC in the United States are covered by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses.

If you are in California: we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we don’t use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect children’s personal information.

6. Security

• Connections between the app and servers are encrypted with HTTPS.
• Our servers store no photos and nothing that identifies you.
• Access to the Firebase console is limited to us.

7. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date above. For significant changes, such as collecting new kinds of information, we will let you know in advance in the app or in the store listing.
